A LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Hello Shapiro Families,
Can you believe it's May? We're down to the final 6 weeks of the school year. Staff are working hard to keep students engaged in learning. Which is why it is the perfect time to celebrate them! We are going to be having Staff Appreciation Week the week of May 5 - 9. Consider having your child(ren) draw a picture, make a card, write a letter or do something else to show how much they appreciate their favorite staff members.
The end of the school year means there are a lot of events and we love for our families to participate in the fun. Interested in participating? Make sure to complete a background check which can be found on our school website under "families" and then "volunteers." Check out our school calendar to stay up to date with upcoming events.
Wishing you well,
Courtney Willert
PENNY WAR WINNERS!
A big congratulations to Miss Doherty's third grade class on winning the penny war! The school did so well earning funds for the Kona Ice Truck on Field day and the third grade class is choosing to donate the additional funds to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL JUNE 5
MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE
The health office would like to send a friendly reminder that if your child isn’t feeling well please keep them home to recover. Please reference the guidelines below.
As general guidelines, keep your child home from school if:
- They have a fever above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit within the past 24 hours
- They have had episodes of vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- They have symptoms that prevent them from participating in school.
- They have an undiagnosed rash.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Nurse Shea or Kendra regarding your child’s health needs.
If you are questioning whether your student should be attending school click here for additional guidelines.
DROP OFF REMINDERS
We would like to remind everyone that morning drop-off time starts at 7:30 AM, if students arrive before this time they will not have teacher supervision.
If using the drop-off/pick-up line in the parking lot, please make sure we are following the steps in place to ensure safety for all our students and staff.
MAY GOAL
Each month our students are working towards a goal where they earn leaves for our kindness tree, when the goal is met, there is a whole school celebration. This month the goal is: I will keep my school clean.
COUNSELOR'S CORNER - MAY 2025
Here is a recap for the Counselor's Corner Newsletter, to view the entire newsletter and see pictures of students learning click here!
Third graders explored the power of positive thinking prior to Forward testing this month by looking through a “rosy lens” instead of taking on a “gloomy” perspective.
You have the power to choose! First grade superheroes went on a story adventure and were tasked to make the daily choices for the main character.
Second grade students discovered that having a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset can lead to overcoming challenges, trying new things, persevering, learning, growing, and improving each and every day!
Kindergarten friends went on a coping skills egg hunt after our lesson on When I Feel Angry, Safe Bodies/Safe Words.
Fourth grade classes learned all about empathy and the four steps to show it.
Check out ways to ensure your student(s) are safe while using various services and devices online!
GET READY FOR THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR!

Thank you for choosing the Oshkosh Area School District for your student’s educational experience. We look forward to continuing to work with your family to meet your student’s individual needs and provide them with the best education possible.
In line with district policy, and due to severe allergies within our school family, we ask that all dogs remain off the school grounds, with the exception of service animals. We ask that all service animals are not in contact with our students and staff.
School safety and the wellbeing of our students and staff are our top priorities. We recently have implemented SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT. This system was created by the Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS). Speak Up Speak Out is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn with important concerns.
Students, parents, school staff, or any community members can submit a school safety concern or threat via our website, their website (https://speakup.widoj.gov/) mobile phone application (available on their website), or toll-free number (available on their website). Staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement, and counselors.
