FEBRUARY COMMITMENT:
"I WILL BE A KIND FRIEND."
Hello Shapiro Families!
My name is Kelley King and I am the new Shapiro secretary. I am still getting my feet under me in this big job, but wanted to express my sincere appreciation for everyone's patience! I am still getting to know staff and students, so thank you for being calm when I ask for spellings of names, grades, and teacher's info, etc. I have been an educator for most of my life! I have worked in elementary schools, as well as high schools. I have spent most of my years in education with special education students. And I also have almost 10 years in accounting and office work. I have kids who are all grown and out on their own. At home with me, I currently have my puppy, Zeke, who I got unexpectedly two years ago from a former student! I look forward to getting to know the Shapiro family.
THANK YOU!
King
Hello all,
My name is Holly Daniels, and I will be a first-year teacher in this 5th grade position. I couldn’t be more excited! I just graduated on December 16th from UW Oshkosh. Some of my hobbies include volleyball, hiking, and painting. My biggest goals for this position are to help each and every one of my students to achieve academically, socially, and emotionally. I plan to integrate many styles of learning into my classroom so that I can help each individual student succeed. I always want my classroom to feel like a safe space and somewhere anyone would feel comfortable coming into. I know I will have lots of questions and need some guidance in this position, so if you have any suggestions for me, please reach out because I would love to hear them. I’m excited to join the Shapiro family.
Sincerely,
Holly Daniels
Hello Shapiro Family!
My name is Kristen Martinez, and I am so excited to start a position with Shapiro as a paraprofessional. I have been a para for the past 7 and a half years and I absolutely love this job. I grew up here in Wisconsin and graduated high school from Slinger High School. After I graduated, I moved to California, then Colorado, and then Wyoming. At the end of this past November, I moved to Oshkosh. I am currently studying for my bachelor’s degree in family and consumer science education, and I do have my associate in education. At home, I live with my husband and our 2 dogs and 3 cats. We enjoy spending a lot of time outside hiking, fishing, and hunting. We also love swimming, reading, and going on road trips. We also are huge Packer and Badger fans and look forward to getting to some games next season.
I look forward to building relationships with staff, students, and families throughout my time here at Shapiro.
Sincerely,
Kristen Martinez

The date for ordering your yearbook online has been extended to February 16th!!!
Volunteer Information
If you are looking to participate in any volunteer activities at our school (field trip chaperone, events, field day, etc.) you MUST have a background check submitted. This needs to be completed yearly. Once your form is approved, you will be set for the entire school year. The process is simple: 1) submit your background check by following THIS PROCESS 2) If an opportunity is available that you would like to volunteer at, just let your student's teacher know that you have submitted a form. From there, the office will be notified and the approval process will begin. Once your background check has been approved, your student's teacher will let you know!
Read Across America
We are planning a fun week of reading and special dress up days! Mark your calendar and join us in celebrating Read Across America FEBRUARY 26TH - MARCH 1ST
Cold Weather Clothing
Winter is officially here to stay! With that being said, our students need to be prepared for the season changing and wearing appropriate clothing to match. Hats, gloves/mittens and jackets are necessary to be outdoors. If there is snow on the ground and your student would like to play in the snow, they MUST be dressed in snow pants and boots. Without snow pants and boots, students will be asked to stay on the blacktop.

In line with district policy, and due to severe allergies within our school family, we ask that all dogs remain off the school grounds, with the exception of service animals. We ask that all service animals are not in contact with our students and staff.
