Family Night

In line with district policy, and due to severe allergies within our school family, we ask that all dogs remain off the school grounds, with the exception of service animals. We ask that all service animals are not in contact with our students and staff.

Morning supervision is not available on our playground until 7:30am. Students are not to arrive before this time.

Thank you!

Halloween Parade October 31st @ 2:15

We welcome families to join us for the Shapiro Halloween Parade! Students will begin exiting through the back of the building at 2:15, take the walkway down to Knapp, turn right on Knapp and proceed to the front of the building. If weather permits, students will continue to walk around the outside of the building on the grass to the back of the building and through the back door. If the grass is wet, students will enter through the front door.

A few important tips about costumes for your student:

*While students are welcome to wear costumes for the parade, students are NOT to come to school wearing their costume.

*Please be sure that your student is able to change into their costume with little-to-no difficulty.

*To promote a festive environment at Shapiro, we ask that students wear costumes that are of a non-violent nature.  Please be aware that costumes may not include weapons per school board policy 443.51.  In addition, students who wear masks or costumes not suitable for our environment will be asked to remove them.

New Field Trip Process

We are excited to announce an improved field trip process for families. Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, all field trip permission slips will be electronic and we are moving to cashless payments for field trips. This is a new process for our entire district and is meant to streamline and improve our service to families.

Additional information will be shared by teachers as they plan for field trips. However, we want to highlight the following features:

  • Our new online field trip process must be completed via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. You can find the instructions HERE

  • All online transaction fees have been waived, including payments made by credit card, debit card, and checking/savings account.

  • If a field trip is sponsored by the district, the cost of the trip is waived for families who are eligible and approved to receive free and reduced priced meals. (This will be communicated to impacted families.)

We look forward to providing your child(ren) with enriching field trip experiences that contribute to their educational journey. We appreciate your continued partnership and engagement!

There will be no school on Monday, September 4th or Friday, September 22.

There will be no school on Friday, October 13th or Friday, October 27th.

Greetings From The Shapiro Media Center

Our Media Center is up and running and that means our readers will be bringing books home to share!

Please see the following tips to help keep our books coming back and looking like new.

* Find out when your child has their weekly library check out so books are ready to come back to school each week.

* Keep books in backpacks while visiting your homes so they don't get lost.

* Set time each night for reading so our library books are part of your evening routine.

We look forward to sharing books with your reader!

Happy Library Season!
