New Field Trip Process
We are excited to announce an improved field trip process for families. Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, all field trip permission slips will be electronic and we are moving to cashless payments for field trips. This is a new process for our entire district and is meant to streamline and improve our service to families.
Additional information will be shared by teachers as they plan for field trips. However, we want to highlight the following features:
-
Our new online field trip process must be completed via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. You can find the instructions HERE
-
All online transaction fees have been waived, including payments made by credit card, debit card, and checking/savings account.
-
If a field trip is sponsored by the district, the cost of the trip is waived for families who are eligible and approved to receive free and reduced priced meals. (This will be communicated to impacted families.)
We look forward to providing your child(ren) with enriching field trip experiences that contribute to their educational journey. We appreciate your continued partnership and engagement!
Cold Weather Clothing
As much as we hate to admit it...winter is coming. With that comes cold weather. Please help us make sure that our friends are dressed appropriately for the weather. Warm jackets, hats and mittens/gloves are important daily items. If there is snow on the ground and your student would like to play in the snow, they MUST be dressed in snow pants and boots. Without snow pants and boots, students will be asked to stay on the blacktop.
Our Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 9th & Tuesday, November 14th. Please use the following link to sign up for a 15 minute conference with your child's teacher. If you have additional questions regarding your child's achievements in the classroom, or you are not able to make either of these conference times, please reach out to your child's teacher directly. The staff directory is listed at the top of this page.
A safety concern has been brought to our attention regarding the drop off routine in the morning. Some students are being dropped off along Knapp Street, across from the school. Students are then crossing the street at various points to get to the school. This is a concern as this time of day is extremely busy on that street. Students run the risk of not being seen by oncoming traffic, especially on a morning like we had today, where the fog limited visibility.
If you are dropping your student off on Knapp Street, for the safety of our students, we ask that you do one of the following:
1. Drop your student off on the same side as the school, so they are not crossing the street.
2. If you are dropping your student off on Knapp Street, across from the school, instruct them to walk to the corner where the crossing guard is located (Knapp and 18th) to be safely escorted across the street.
3. If you are dropping your student off on Knapp Street, across from the school, please walk your student across the street.
We appreciate your help in this matter. We need to be keeping our friends safe at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
Morning supervision is not available on our playground until 7:30am. Students are not to arrive before this time.
Thank you!
In line with district policy, and due to severe allergies within our school family, we ask that all dogs remain off the school grounds, with the exception of service animals. We ask that all service animals are not in contact with our students and staff.
The Shapiro Holiday Concert will be Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 6:30pm at The Alberta Kimball Auditorium. Be sure to watch your student's take-home folder for more information from Mr. Crowe!
Remembering and honoring... with love and appreciation. THANK YOU to all of our veterans.
There will be no school on Friday, November 10th, for Professional Development for staff.
Additionally, there is no school November 22nd-24th for Thanksgiving break.

Office Tips From Mrs. Molash
If your student it going home with another student, or going home with someone NOT listed as an emergency contact, you must call the school office to verify. We cannot release your student from the building without verbal consent from the parent/guardian.
If you are calling in your student for any reason and need to leave a message, please call 920.424.0164 and select option "0." This will take you to the school office inbox where you can leave your details.
When leaving a message, please leave the first and last name of your student, their grade, and their reason for absence, including any symptoms they have if they are sick. If your student will be late for any reason, please let us know so that you can avoid receiving an "unexcused" call.
If you will be needing to pick your student up for an appointment or any other reason, please let us know in advance so that we may have your student ready.
Please let us know if you will be taking your student(s) out of school for an extended amount of time. You will need to fill out a Pre-Planned Absence Form if your student will be missing multiple days. Please contact the office to have a form sent home with your student, or you can print your own HERE
DATES TO REMEMBER:
As always, if you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach me at 920.424.0164, or by email rachel.molash@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
Volunteer Information
If you are looking to participate in any volunteer activities at our school (field trip chaperone, events, field day, etc.) you MUST have a background check submitted. This needs to be completed yearly. Once your form is approved, you will be set for the entire school year. The process is simple: 1) submit your background check by following THIS PROCESS 2) If an opportunity is available that you would like to volunteer at, just let your student's teacher know that you have submitted a form. From there, the office will be notified and the approval process will begin. Once your background check has been approved, your student's teacher will let you know!
