As much as we hate to admit it...winter is coming. With that comes cold weather. Please help us make sure that our friends are dressed appropriately for the weather. Warm jackets, hats and mittens/gloves are important daily items. If there is snow on the ground and your student would like to play in the snow, they MUST be dressed in snow pants and boots. Without snow pants and boots, students will be asked to stay on the blacktop.

Clothing Donations Needed

Clothing Donations Needed

Shapiro families, we could really use your help! Our health room staff does an AWESOME job of making sure our friends have a change of clothing when they are in need. But, our supplies are running low. We are reaching out to see if you might be able to help us provide our friends with some new or gently used items. We are currently most in need of the following items:

GIRLS: Size 7-8 pants (elastic waistband preferred)
GIRLS: Size 7-8 shirts
GIRLS: Size 10-12 pants
BOYS: Size 4-5 pants (elastic waistband preferred)

While we are in greatest need of the above items, we will be grateful for any items that you would be willing to donate. Thank you!!!

Parking & Pick Up/Drop Off Rules

Parking & Pick Up/Drop Off Rules

Families, please remember that there is no parking in the pick up lines. We need to be keeping those lanes open for a safe and steady flow of traffic. Please see the Traffic Flow and Parking Document for more specific information. There is also NO PARKING in the staff parking lot at any time. Please use 18th Ave. and Knapp Street to park your vehicle.

Additionally, there is no parking in the circle driveway in front of the building, unless you have a form of handicapped identification visible on your vehicle. If that is the case, please park in the designated parking spots only. We ask that you not park in front or in back of the busses for the safety of all students and staff.

 Thank you!

Media Minutes With Mrs. Daniels

Media Minutes With Mrs. Daniels

Greetings from the Shapiro STEM Academy Media Center!

Book checkout is in full swing and we love seeing your reader come in weekly to check out books.

In order to keep your reader restocked and reading as much as possible please see the following tips for remembering book returns.

1. Check with your child's teacher to add their weekly check out time to your calendar.

2. Keep books close to your child's school backpack so they don't get mixed up in your home book piles.

3. Schedule nightly reading times and send the books back as soon as they are completed.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Food Pantry Classroom Contest

Description automatically generated

Hello, my name is Autumn. I am a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. For my graduating project we are “moving the needle” by helping our community.  I have decided to reach out to Shapiro STEM Academy school for help in hosting a food pantry contest for my project.

Starting October 21st my goal is to raise enough food to bring to the Day-by-Day Warming Shelter located in Oshkosh. Here I will be volunteering my time serving food for the guests.

The classroom that brings in the most food pantry will win a pizza party!

Below are items the shelter needs the most, but any items would be appreciated!

Wishlist Items:

  • Juice Boxes, Fruit Cups, Granola Bars, Coffee Cans (No Decaf), Dry Coffee Creamer, Sugar (5lb package or single packets), Peanut Butter and Jelly

Thank you for helping our community!

 No Toys At School

No Toys At School

We have been having a growing concern with distractions in the classroom and on the playground due to various toys, fidgets and electronics being brought from home. Along with causing distractions, these much loved items run the risk of going missing. We are asking you to please keep these items at home so that all friends can receive an uninterrupted day of learning every day!

Don't Forget Your Water Bottle!

Don't Forget Your Water Bottle!

Students are allowed to keep water bottles with them in the classroom. Having a water bottle provides fewer interruptions to the classroom for water breaks, plus they keep our friends hydrated. As we do not have extra water bottles at school, please feel free to send your student to school with a water bottle from home.

Office Tips From Mrs. Molash
Office Tips From Mrs. Molash

*School Office hours are 7:30am- 3:15pm

*If your child will be going home with the parent of another school friend, or an adult that is not on your emergency contact list, we can NOT let your child leave the care of our school unless we hear from a parent or guardian of the student. It is our responsibility to keep our friends safe at all times, that includes dismissal. Please remember to contact the school office, or your child's teacher, if your child will be leaving with a different adult.

*Playground supervision does not begin until 7:30am. We ask that you do not drop your students off before that time. Teachers bring in students from the back playground at 7:40am. If your student is arriving after that time, they will need to come in through the front door of the school.

*Students who arrive after 7:55am will be marked unexcused. We are unable to excuse a late student unless we hear from the parent directly.

*If any of your information has changed; cell phone, work phone, emergency contact information, address, email, etc., please be sure to contact the office as soon as possible to have that information updated. Having your most current information allows us to contact you for school news, sending home important mail, and in the event of an emergency.

As always, if you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach me at 920.424.0164, or by email rachel.molash@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
