Please Use Sidewalks
When dropping off or picking up your student, it is important that students and family members are utilizing the sidewalks around the parking lot. With the amount of traffic that flows through the parking lot at those times, it simply is not safe to walk through the parking lot. As safety is always our top priority, we ask that you remind your students to ALWAYS use the sidewalks.
Shapiro students have FREE breakfast and lunch provided to them. Please click the link below to see what's on the menu for this month:

Office Tips From Mrs. Molash
*Students must be picked up or have a plan on how to get home when school ends at 2:45pm. Students are not allowed to wait in the school office after school for a ride, unless it is an emergency situation. If you are not able to pick your student up when the school day is finished, please contact the Boys and Girls Club at 920.233.1414 to make plans for after school care.
*Visitors are not allowed in the building without an appointment. When coming to the school, please ring the doorbell on the left side of the front doors, and the office staff will assist you from there.
*School Office hours are 7:30am- 3:15pm
*If your child will be going home with the parent of another school friend, or an adult that is not on your emergency contact list, we can NOT let your child leave the care of our school unless we hear from a parent or guardian of the student. It is our responsibility to keep our friends safe at all times, that includes dismissal. Please remember to contact the school office, or your child's teacher, if your child will be leaving with a different adult.
*Playground supervision does not begin until 7:30am. We ask that you do not drop your students off before that time. Teachers bring in students from the back playground at 7:40am. If your student is arriving after that time, they will need to come in through the front door of the school.
*Students who arrive after 7:55am will be marked unexcused. We are unable to excuse a late student unless we hear from the parent directly.
*If any of your information has changed; cell phone, work phone, emergency contact information, address, email, etc., please be sure to contact the office as soon as possible to have that information updated. Having your most current information allows us to contact you for school news, sending home important mail, and in the event of an emergency.
As always, if you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach me at 920.424.0164, or by email rachel.molash@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
No School
There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, March 10 for professional development, as well as March 20-24 for Spring Break!
Don't Be Late!
We know that the parking lot drop-off line can be pretty busy in the morning. While we always hope for a smooth and steady traffic flow, sometimes hiccups happen, causing things to slow down. Please know, that we also offer parking on 18th Ave, as well as Knapp Street. You are welcome to park and walk your student to the building. There is also a drop-off area on Knapp by the fence. From there, the students can take the path up to the school. There is no parking in the parking lot for the safety of our staff and students.
With multiple options to drop your student off at school, we are unable to excuse students who arrive after 7:45am. Any student arriving after that time will be marked tardy. Students arriving after 7:55 will be marked unexcused, unless we receive a call from the parent or guardian.
No Toys At School
Shapiro has seen a large increase in the number of toys being brought from home, including Pokemon cards, actions figures, fidgits and stuffed animals. We provide a wide range of educational resources for various calming, therapeutic and recreational uses for all of our students. Toys from home have been known to cause distractions in the classroom. They also run the risk of getting lost, stolen or damaged. As we can not be held responsible for these items, we are encouraging you to ask your students to leave these items at home. Thank you.
Parking & Pick Up/Drop Off Rules
Families, please remember that there is no parking in the pick up lines. We need to be keeping those lanes open for a safe and steady flow of traffic. Please see the Traffic Flow and Parking Document for more specific information. There is also NO PARKING in the staff parking lot at any time. Please use 18th Ave. and Knapp Street to park your vehicle.
Additionally, there is no parking in the circle driveway in front of the building, unless you have a form of handicapped identification visible on your vehicle. If that is the case, please park in the designated parking spots only. We ask that you not park in front or in back of the busses for the safety of all students and staff.
Thank you!

Open Enrollment
(For Requests to attend a school OUTSIDE the Oshkosh Area School District)
Public School Open Enrollment to Other School Districts
Applications due by 4:00 p.m. on April 28, 2023
Wisconsin’s inter-district public school open enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend school districts other than the one in which they live. Students in 4-year-old Kindergarten to Grade 12 may apply to participate in open enrollment. Parents should call their resident school districts to find out if their preschool-aged children qualify for open enrollment.
The open enrollment application period for the 2023-24 school year is from February 6- April 28, 2023. Late applications will not be accepted for any reason.
Parents may apply in one of two ways:
● On-line (recommended) at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment. (Accessible as of February 6, 2023)
● Although on-line application is recommended, paper applications may be obtained from the Student Information Services Manager at 215 South Eagle Street and must be delivered (hand-delivery is recommended) to the nonresident school district.
